At Staff Badges Direct we are proud to be able to support the 'Hello My Name Is...' badge campaign. But do you know the purpose of the campaign and its origins? There is a very important reason behind the campaign which we will explain in this article.
The 'Hello My Name Is...' campaign was founded in 2013 by Dr. Kate Granger MBE with the purpose of promoting the importance of introductions within the healthcare community. As a terminally ill cancer patient, Kate was hospitalised in August 2013 with post-operative sepsis. During her stay she noticed that many of the staff caring for her didn't introduce themselves. As a result, she and her husband decided to run a campaign designed to encourage healthcare staff to introduce themselves.
It was Dr. Granger's belief that introductions are part of the human connection between the suffering patient and the person who wishes to help ease their pain. The campaign is all about achieving her desire for 'person-centred, compassionate care'. After starting out as a simple post on Twitter, the campaign has grew and grew over the years.
As well as social media promotion, there are several elements that make this a positive, useful and supportive campaign. Anyone is able to donate to the campaign and there's even a play in the works to honour the love and commitment of Kate and her husband. Merchandise is available to purchase including badges, lanyards, labels and wristbands, all of which feature the 'Hello My Name Is...' logo.
If you would like to purchase one of these badges, please visit our Hello My Name Is Badges page. We provide you with the option of choosing from several styles. A percentage of these badge sales will be donated to St Gemma's Hospice and the Wales Air Ambulance Charity.
